Your Solar Journey

What to expect before, during and after your  installation

What to expect

Scaffolding setup – Once we’ve confirmed your installation date, we will also arrange scaffolding with our trusted partners. The scaffolding is typically set up the week before your scheduled installation, but due to the nature of their work, the scaffolders cannot provide a specific date or time. You don’t need to be present when the scaffolding is erected, as we will have already provided all necessary details to their team.

If there are any specific access requirements, permissions, or if you need to coordinate timings or communicate with neighbours, our Project Manager will reach out to you directly before the scaffolding is set up. After your system is installed and fully operational, we will request our scaffolding partner to remove the scaffolding. This process usually occurs within a week of completion, though it may take up to two weeks.

On the Day of Installation

Our Roof Team will aim to arrive by 9:00 AM on the day of your installation. They will handle the DC cable runs, fit the roof mounting system, and install the solar panels. Our electricians will take care of installing your inverter, battery, and other necessary equipment.

As outlined in your signed agreement, the installation team will need access to washroom facilities. Please let them know where these are located.

Additionally, we will need access to your Wi-Fi to connect and commission your solar system.

Commissioning & Final Payment

Once your PV system is installed, we perform a series of checks and tests to ensure that all equipment is functioning correctly and connected properly. After confirming everything is in order, we will commission your system and register your inverter with the manufacturer’s online portal.

We’ll verify that you’ve received your registration email and ask you to sign off on the equipment list, which details what has been installed. When your system is up and running, generating power, we will send you an invoice for the final payment. Once we receive the balance, we will issue your MCS certificate. We will also submit your District Network Operator (DNO) ‘Confirmation of Installation’ letter. Please be aware that the National Grid often has a significant backlog of generation applications to process. As a result, this process can take approximately eight weeks. Applications are handled in the order they are received. This delay may impact the receipt of commissioning documentation and, in turn, the completion of your installation

System Handover

Once your system is commissioned, we will schedule a handover call with our Project Management team. During this call, we will guide you through your system, review the installation, and answer any questions you may have.

After your system goes live, you will receive a Handover Pack, which includes all necessary documentation—product warranties, datasheets, manuals, a single-line diagram of your system, safety shutdown procedures, a commissioning checklist, and a maintenance schedule.

Applying for Solar-Friendly Tariffs

To apply for a solar-friendly tariff, you will need the following documents:

  • Single Line Diagram (SLD) (PV Schematic)
  • MCS Certificate
  • DNO Commissioning Letter
